How To Recognize A Real Opportunity

How to Tell the Difference Between a Real Opportunity and a Distraction
There is a specific kind of overwhelm that does not get talked about enough. It is not the overwhelm of having too much to do. It is the overwhelm of having too many options — all of them looking promising, all of them pulling at you at once.

That is what this week’s Monday Motivation is about. Bob the Psychic calls it what it is: shiny object syndrome. And if you have ever found yourself bouncing between five good ideas without moving forward on any of them, you already know what he means.

The problem with too many good things at once
When opportunities pile up, the instinct is to move fast. Grab the first one that looks right. Or try to grab all of them. Neither tends to work.

Bob’s message this week is a pause before the move. Not because the opportunities are not real. Some of them are very real. But some of them are just bright and new and not actually built for you. The work is knowing the difference.

He asks a few straightforward questions worth sitting with: Which of these is actually healthy for you? Which one makes sense given where you are right now? And which one is the one that scares you a little, because it is the one that is going to stretch you?

That last one is the one he keeps coming back to. The opportunity that feels slightly out of reach is often the one that matters most. Not because struggle is the point, but because you have done harder things than this before, and you know it.

The one that is going to stretch you
Bob is direct about this in Monday Motivation this week: every time you have committed to something and gone after it, you got there. That is not a motivational line. It is a pattern. Your own pattern.

The invitation this week is to look at which opportunity is asking you to grow, and to take it seriously. Not to dismiss it because it feels big. The size of it might be exactly the point.

What to ask before you commit
Before you move on anything, Bob suggests a simple practice. Close your eyes. Ask for what you want. Then add: or more. Because what you are imagining might be smaller than what is actually possible right now. Leaving room for that matters.

Then look at what is in front of you with fresh eyes. Not what looks exciting at first glance. Not what promises to solve everything. What is genuinely aligned with where you are trying to go.

The right opportunity does not usually announce itself loudly. It tends to be the one that quietly fits.

You have already proven you can do this
That is the thread running through this whole week’s message. You have made good calls before. You have gone after things that seemed uncertain and come out the other side. This week is not different. The opportunities are real. Your ability to handle them is real too.

Watch this week’s Monday Motivation and see which one lands for you.
